An investigation is underway after a child died Monday morning in Trussville.
Trussville police Lt. Clint Riner said officers responded at 6:39 a.m. to a residence. They have not yet disclosed the location but said it was in the Hawk Ridge subdivision.
The 5-year-old girl was found inside a laundry hamper. She was taken to St. Vincent’s East by Trussville Fire and Rescue, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities said they don’t yet know how long the child had been in the hamper. The death appears to be accidental, according to police.
