AAMU Coordinator to Speak at National Student Vote Summit in Washington, D.C.
AAMU Service and Learning Communities & Volunteerism Coordinator Monica Clarke has been invited to speak at the Students Learn Students Vote (SLSV) Coalition’s 2023 National Student Vote Summit November 15-17, at The University of Maryland, College Park.
“I am honored to share what I’ve learned getting students involved in state and federal elections, and making them aware of just how important their vote is,” says Clarke.
Clarke and the AAMU Civic Engagement Team organize students to host yearly voting registration events across campus. With the help of the Bulldog Transportation Service (BTS), they’ve also provided rides to the polls.
Last year, The Andrew Goodman Foundation honored AAMU with its Campus Team of the Year Hidden Heroes Award. The foundation recognized AAMU’s dedication to its mission “to make young voices and votes a powerful force in democracy.”
“I’m excited to present at this national event.” adds Clarke. “I will discuss how to establish reliable partnerships and build civic engagement teams that get college students educated about voting, registered to vote, and turning out to vote.”
