A volunteer youth coach in Pelham has been charged with multiple counts of child pornography.

Jamie Paul Hutto, 39, is charged with five counts of child pornography and five counts of dissemination of child pornography, Pelham police announced Thursday.

Authorities did not say how they were made aware of the allegations. State and federal investigators assisted in the probe.

Hutto was taken into custody on Wednesday.

City officials confirmed that Hutto was a volunteer coach in the Parks and Recreation Department. He has now been removed from that volunteer position.

Authorities said individuals are not allowed to volunteer unless they have gone through a background check, which includes national and state criminal history, which Hutto passed.

Pelham Parks and Recreation coaches are also required to complete a coach safety program annually, which Hutto also completed. That is a program geared toward keeping sports safe.

Hutto remains held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $300,000.
