Hopewell M.B. Church, located at 292 Cemetery Road, New Market, AL 35761, held its 162nd Church Anniversary and Homecoming on October 16th at 9:00 a.m. This year’s theme was “The Lord Has Been Faithful, “from Hebrews 6:18.
Our Devotion was by the Deacon’s Ministry, Deacon W.D. Strong Sr., and Deacon Richard Hardin Sr. Deacon and Deaconess Clifford Patterson presented the Welcome and the Occasion. The Church sang the congregation hymn, “We’ve Come This Far by Faith.”
Sister Olivia Flower recited the Church’s History, and the Praise Dance ministry truly blessed us. The Anniversary Ensemble rendered worship in songs. The speaker’s introduction was by Pastor Dr. Larry Davidson, Jr., who happened to be the cousin of the guest minister, Rev. Marcus Davidson, Pastor of New Mount Olive Baptist Church from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Rev. Larry Davidson, Jr. was blessed to share his love for his family.
Pastor Marcus Davidson gave a Blessed Word for ‘The Well’ with hope. The sermon was based upon the scripture, 1 Thessalonian 1: 6-8, entitled, “Church That God Build.” Davidson emphasized the importance of needing Christ in the Church because it shapes our communities and the world.
