FIRST AAMU CAR SHOW A SUCCESS

AAMU hosted the First Annual Cruising at Crews Car Show to support AAMU student athletes Saturday, and the show didn’t disappoint. 

Drivers began arriving to register at 9 a.m. for judging at noon. 

AAMU President Daniel Wims awarded the trophies and took photos with all the winners.30 people received a trophy for Top 30 Cars. 

The Top Prizes:

Best Interior – Larry Rice and his C8 Corvette Convertible

Best Engine – Andre Johnson and his 71’ Buick Electra

Best Paint and Furthest Distance Traveled – Royce Martin, Jr., and his 2017 Corvette Convertible

Best Club Participation – First Class Corvette Club of Huntsville

Best of Show – Leo Miller and his 2022 Corvette 3LT 

Martin, who won Best Paint and Furthest Distance Traveled, drove to the show from Ohio. 

The judged entry fees of $25 per car/truck and $20 per bike, and show fee of $10 dollars, all go to AAMU Athletics. 

The Car Clubs of North Alabama also presented Dr. Wims with a check for $1,325 for AAMU Athletics. 

It was a busy day on “The Hill,” as the AAMU Football Team took the field at Louis Crews Stadium at 10 a.m. for the Maroon and White Game. 

Dr. Wims also threw out the first pitch at the AAMU Women’s Softball doubleheader against FAMU. The first game was at noon with the second at 2 p.m. 

AAMU held an Ice Cream Social at 1 p.m. between games. Along with community members, those on campus for the football game and car show stopped by for the free ice cream.AAMU Spring Break starts today, March 28. Classes resume on Monday, April 4.
