Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers.
I am very proud of my grandsons as they will both be graduating in May. Nathan will be graduating from Auburn University and Daniel will be graduating from Huntsville High. Nathan will most likely be accepting a job offer in Georgia. While I am happy for him, I will be sad to see him move away. I am so thankful that my son and daughter stayed in Huntsville after college and have good jobs here.
I had a great weekend with my family. My son and daughter-in-law asked me to go to a store with them on North Parkway called Rural King. I have never been in a store this big that carries such a wide range of items for sale. I will have to tell the mayor that this store sells small baby chickens in case our leaders are still looking to put “Chickens in the City”.
COUNTRY SUFFERING
Who and/or what got our country in such a mess? Did Politicians cause this hardship on our citizens? It is so sad to see the Ukraine war going on with over 3 million people walking the streets with no food or homes. I saw where Biden warned Putin NOT to use chemical weapons and I pray they won’t. The U.S. says they are going to welcome up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees. Thursday the Western Leaders spent time meeting on how to counter Russia’s month-old invasion. I hope our politicians keep our country from going to war.
ECONOMY
Will the economy for the U.S. ever get better? High prices for gas, food and other items are impacting us all. The mortgage rate is increasing again. This country was doing good for a while. Why did our Politicians allow all this to happen? If this continues, we should vote those responsible out of office.
CITY ON JEOPARDY
The Rocket city found its way as a question on the Jeopardy quiz show last week. The question was which city is the home of Wernher Von Braun, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and the most populous city in the State. The correct answer of course was Huntsville. We overtook Birmingham as the state’s largest city in the 2020 census with a population of 215,000 compared to Birmingham’s 200,730. Our city leaders wanted to live in a big city so now they have it.
CITY LEADERS
The tearing down of the Municipal Parking Garage makes me sad every time I must walk so far to get to City Hall to attend the City Council meetings. I see where they are changing a lot of the streets around City Hall. The Public Building Authority is a committee picked by the city and responsible for the development of the new City Hall. Remember they are the ones that handled the building of the new jail and were sued by the city.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
