Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. Our family had a great Thanksgiving dinner at my son’s house. I hope everyone gave thanks for their many blessings. Time is swiftly passing as Christmas is only a few weeks away. Do your shopping early as items may be scarce and deliveries by mail may have long delays.
I had a great day Saturday watching the Auburn and Alabama football game. I have always been an Alabama fan until my son went to Auburn and my grandson is a senior there now. The game Saturday went into 4 overtimes with Alabama beating Auburn by 2 points, 22-20.
POLITICS
Wish I could write a book on politics after being involved in it for over 30 years. I wish people cared more about what is going on with our government. I was watching the news and heard that 17 Democrats are not going to be on the ballot next year. The cities, states and our country are so far in debt. How will these debts be paid back? The government officials are not worried about how the debts will be paid back as they know they will not be in office when the time comes. Next year is an election next year for 3 of our City Council members and several School Board members and other state office positions. Start reading and watching the news so you will be better informed on which candidates to vote for.
I was reading where Alabama has a growing population born outside the United States according to the U.S. Census. Franklin County has one of the highest percentages.
HUNTSVILLE
Huntsville is my hometown and is the one City that I am most concerned about. There are many fast changes taking place. Our city is still planning on tearing down the parking garage in front of city hall. This keeps me up many nights. I cannot understand why they would build an outrageously high building on that property and make the city closed in around downtown. What is going to happen to the City Hall property and why are we not building a historical city hall back on that property using marble from the other building. The Mayor, Administrative Aide and Planning needs a take a break and reconsider this. Commissioner Dale Strong ask me to help save the parking garage and I am doing my best to do so. Our leaders need to quit letting money rule their decisions. Why would they even think of tearing this down here at Christmas time and making a mess of our downtown during the holidays.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
