Huntsville, AL – As America reflects on the Race Massacre that occurred in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921, I must remind everyone that we should not forget the same thing happened in Rosewood , Florida New Year’s Day 1923. In the same manner, a white woman was reported being assaulted and the assailant was a black resident from Rosewood.
White America will create a lie to believe than accepting the truth even if the truth is staring them in the face. This goes back to the Civil War when the Confederates lied about how they lost after Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant. This was just the beginning of what this country is dealing with today. Imagine being taught a lie for hundreds of years. The descendants of the original liars are afraid of the truth.
The State of Oklahoma has added the Race Massacre in Tulsa as part of their History Curriculum. Teachers there will be required to “really” know what happened in order to teach it and be prepared to answer questions that will be asked. Other states don’t want to have to answer questions like “Why were people killed because of their skin color?” I can think of more questions, but there is not enough space to print them. While Tulsa tried to bury the truth, hoping that no one would be left alive to face the enemy and tell the story, “divine intervention” stepped in and kept three people alive for just that purpose. You can’t hide a lie forever. The truth will be revealed.
