Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. Congratulations to all the graduates. I wish you the best in life. Your new life starts from this day forward and it will be worth all the hours and time spent. I enjoyed watching several of the school’s graduation ceremonies on television. Thanks to Mr. William Smothers for sharing his beautiful family with us.
We had some serious sadness in our family this past week. My daughter and her husband lost a big part of their family. They do not have any children and their beautiful dog named Muddy passed away. The dog was 14 years old and quit eating a few weeks ago. They have been trying to give her medicine but that did not help. Muddy knew probably more people than I did. My daughter walked her every morning at 6:00 and they took Muddy lots of places with them. She was a very sweet and happy dog. Her sudden death was a sad event for all our family. I will miss her and how she would me at the porch when I went to visit my daughter to see if I had brought her any nuggets or snacks to eat. My daughter and her husband are having a hard time but have many good memories.
ELECTION 2022
The primary is less than a year away and Gov. Kay Ivey announced Wednesday she would seek a second 4- year term. Lt. Will Ainsworth, Attorney General Steve Marshall and Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate have announced they will run for re-election also. All four are Republicans in our state where the GOP holds every state-wide office. The voters next year will vote a new U.S. Senator to replace Richard Shelby who is not seeking re-election. I am happy that Gov. Kay Ivey is seeking re-election as I believe she cares about the citizens.
HUNTSVILLE STATE’S LARGEST
Huntsville is the only one of Alabama’s Big Four cities growing according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Huntsville was reported as being smaller than Birmingham in 2020. Birmingham has been the largest city for decades, but Huntsville has seen a population grow in the last decades and is expected to be the largest city in the state, maybe even by July 1st of this year.
I have a problem with us wanting to be the largest city in the state when we have such traffic problems already and are having challenges managing the infrastructure we have now.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
