One Woman’s Opinion

Thanks, Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. Many have asked how to get the paper and I told them to call Speakin Out News and make arrangements and it will be delivered to your home.  It has a lot of news and it covers stories you will not see or hear about anywhere else.

I wish my Grandson Nathan a happy blessed 21st birthday.  His mom, dad and brother went to Auburn for the weekend to celebrate his birthday with him.  He is a caring, loving, family man and that means a lot to his parents and his grandparents.

TEACHER RETIREMENTS

Alabama is seeing a rise in the number of school employees choosing to retire since the school year began. According to the Director of Alabama’s Teachers Retirement System, the two main reasons for the increase in retirement for the past 2 months are health risk and frustration of teachers trying to figure out all the new technology.

CHALLENGING IVEY MASKS

Seven people represented by Supreme Court System are claiming that Governor Ivey’s mask order violated their constitutional rights under the First, Fifth and the 14th amendments.  They asked the court to block Ivey and Harris from enforcing the orders but the ruling was that restraining orders require “imminent irreparable harm”. It is definitely a hard decision for our leaders to make but health is a very important issue.

CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

There were a lot of new City Council members voted in during the last city elections.  In West Huntsville, District 5, Mr. John Meredith defeated Councilman Will Culver.   On the City Council in Madison, 4 of the 7 council members are now women. A lot of changes took place and sometimes that is needed.

CITY ORDINANCES

Why does our Mayor and leaders believe in changing city ordinances?   They are allowing new buildings to be built to close to the streets thru the changing of setbacks and lines. They are building sidewalks for bicycles in Five points and other parts of the City and taking a big part of the streets.  Whoever is in charge of City Planning, please have meetings with the public to discuss this matter.

It is very hard getting our leaders to help the public with their problems.   Maybe we need a Complaint Department for the City Council to make sure the leaders are informed of the citizens’ complaints so they can do their job and address them.

Love you all and have a blessed week.
