Thanks, Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. “HELP” is the key word anymore. There is absolutely too much going on in the cities and the country but what is it really all about? We must stop and take a look at our lives and learn to love, respect and care about each other. Life is a short-lived journey and we will all be judged someday. There are many who tell me they appreciate what I do to try to give them a better quality of life in Huntsville. I appreciate all the comments and kind words I receive when people come up to me in public. Thanks also to my two children who are always there with love which means so much to me. Family is what life is all about and caring for each other.
MANDATORY MASK
Alabama was credited for slowing down the virus following the Labor Day holiday as a result of the state-wide mask mandate. The number of new cases around the state has dropped since Gov. Kay Ivey and State Public Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris implemented the mask order that went into effect in July. Dr. Deborah Birx, a key member of the White House coronavirus team, said that Alabama’s state wide mask order is doing a great job and she has urged Gov. Kay Ivey to continue it longer. As of now, Ivey’s order is in effect until Oct, 2.
MAYOR AND POLICE CHIEF
Fifteen speakers spoke at the City Council meeting last Thursday about Huntsville Police and the Chief of Police, Mark McMurray. Many of the speakers said that Chief McMurry has lost the confidence of the citizens and needs to be removed. I agree with Mayor Battle in supporting the Chief. The Chief does not make all the decisions by himself and our government leaders need to be more involved.
We also do not need to defund our Police Officers. People need to show our officers respect and do as the they are told if they want our officers to respect them. If citizens have issues with the Police they need to talk with our leaders and go thru the proper procedures. It is good that the protesters attended the meeting and are respectful. I wish they were more involved with some of the other issues we have in our City.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
