Thanks, Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. Another election week is behind us. Time passes fast as our leaders cannot realize what their job is and what to do next on changing our cities and country.
Discrimination
It is amazing to me that Mr. Paul Gattis with the Huntsville Times has written very little on any of the other Candidates except for Mayor Tommy Battle. Mayor Battle will be the Mayor for the fourth time. He has big ideas of spending tax dollars to help big developers to own this city. This city’s debt is already high due to the virus but our leaders keep voting to keep building with no worries about the additional debt their spending is causing as they will probably not be in office when it is time to pay the debt off anyway.
I cannot believe that Mayor Battle is doing this planning as his first two years in office were good. The City paid a consultant from up north $150,000 to plan the “Big Picture”. Does the Administrative Assistant want to live in a big city? Many items have changed on developments such as the moving of setbacks, property lines and easements allowing buildings to be built almost in the streets. Bicycle sidewalks are making our streets too narrow. Big buildings are being built on every block with hotels everywhere. The city employees need a raise as they have only been given a 1% raise for several years. Please get some common sense and allow the public to get more involved. The city has a lot of problems that the public does not know about. The Times did have it right when they said COVID could not stop city’s building from being built downtown.
SCHOOLS
Our City School have started back with classes being conducted online. There have been several challenges with video classrooms and the online class work but the school system is working hard to get these issues resolved. I know it was a big decision for the leaders and parents to keep the students at home but safety and lives are the most important thing. I pray the students that have returned to their college campuses will take the right precautions to stay safe. You cannot be too careful taking care of yourselves and your families.
HOUSING MARKET
The pandemic has affected everything from mortgage rates to the number of homes for sale. Home prices have risen and mortgage rates are very low. It is and a good time to buy a home. The Pandemic has also put a lot of businesses into a recession.
FAMILY
Thanks to Mr. William Smothers and family for being so good to me over the years. I cannot thank them enough. I also want to thank my family for helping me every day. Whenever I need them, they are always there. God is my number one friend and partner.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
