Huntsville, AL – 30 years ago a young Minister along with his Wife and Children from Gulfport, MS arrived in Huntsville, AL to begin a New Chapter in their “Book of Life.” This young man answered the call to lead Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in the next phase of its journey of spreading God’s Word. Upon accepting this call, for O. Wendell Davis and Wife Dora things would forever change in their lives and the lives of the faithful members of this historical church.
On Friday, April 26, Union Chapel Church Members along with other community
Leaders celebrated Davis’ 30 years of serve with a viewing of a Documentary “Footprints in Time” and a Tribute Concert by Bishop Marvin Sapp, Singer/Song Writer and Pastor of Lighthouse Full Life Center Church, Grand Rapids, MI. that was held in the Lee High School Theater.
On Sunday, April 28, Dr. Tommie L. Lewis, Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Pratt City, Alabama delivered the 7:45am message from Colossians Chapter 1 verses 9-13 titled “The Pastor’s Prayer for His Church.” “A truly called Pastor is always praying for his members for spiritual vision, spiritual vitality and spiritual victory in God’s will. He prays for his members in spite of their behavior…” Union Chapel’s Music Ministry rendered songs that expressed the atmosphere of the service, “God’s Grace,” Anyway You Bless Me Lord”, “Change Me” and “Oh To Be Kept.” Every song delivered words of continued encouragement to a well-deserved Pastor and First Lady.
