OAKWOOD UNIVERSITY WINS MEN’S DIVISION I NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA— March 09, 2019 — Oakwood University won its fourth United State Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Men’s D-1 Basketball National Championship Title in the Saturday night game in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, against Bluefield State. As reported in the Laurel Highlands news recap, a dunk from Bluefield State’s Joseph Adeyemo two minutes into the “second half gave Bluefield their first lead of the game. There were four lead changes over the next four minutes until the 15-minute mark when Bluefield went on a run.” However, the Tournament’s MVP Edmen Stewart and Mike Middleton, leading scorer from Oakwood kept the game within reach striking distant for the Ambassadors.

When the final buzzersounded, Oakwood University took home a fourth championship title, with two in the last four years. The entire Oakwood community is proud of the young men of the Ambassadors’ team and the outstanding leadership of Coach Simon Jacob and his staff. This fourth win shows the level of commitment and dedication not only to the student-athlete but to Oakwood University as a whole.

In addition, special tournament recognition and congratulations to Sophomore Edmen Stewart (Forward) who was named USCAA Tournament’s MVP, while Junior Talik Talton, (Forward) named to the All- Tournament Team.

A Celebration rally has been planned for 12:00 noon tomorrow, March 12, at the Ashby Gym, on the campus of Oakwood University.
