The 2018 Jazz in the Park- Huntsville concert series has started with a blast. On Sunday evening, September 2, the First Lady of Smooth Jazz kicked off a five concert series to a huge crowd of thousands in Big Spring East Park. The weather was beautiful and the jazz was smooth and cool with Athens-based guitarist Roland Gresham opening performance ahead of Gail. The rest of the series promises to keep it hot with concerts every Sunday in September (9,16, 23 and 30), featuring an awesome lineup of performances, including: Adam Hawley and the KAYO Band (September 9), Kim Scott and T.A.D. of Jazz (September 16); Brian Simpson and Norris Jones (September 23); and Carmen Lundy and Theo Croker (September 30). In case of rain, the concerts will move indoors at the former Johnson High School Auditorium. Follow the action on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for performer bios, updates, prizes, etc. .

Jazz in the Park- Huntsville is sponsored by Lexus of Huntsville in collaboration with the City of Huntsville Office of Multicultural Affairs and Magic City Smooth Jazz with generous support from the City of Huntsville (multiple departments) WZDX TV, WHRP 94.1 FM, WJAB 90.9 FM and PNC Bank. The concert series concludes on Sunday, September 25 and is absolutely free! For information, Kenny Anderson at 256.883.3993 256.679.4241 and kenny.anderson@huntsvilleal.gov.

iFest kicks off with a parade of nations followed by country exhibits, open air market, children’s activities, live music, food trucks and more. For information, contact Dr. Belinda Ong at 256.824.6432 or ongb@uah.edu.

Expect Little Miracles (ELM) invites you to learn how your agency can be part of Community Connections, a community based collaborative nonprofit network being formed to: 1) encourage cross-agency collaboration, 2) streamline the referral process, and 3) provide intensive case management to more effectively connect clients with services. Community Connections is being funded by a grant from the Community Foundation’s Women’s Endowment. It will fund an unlimited number of subscriptions for the many agencies in Madison County that are looking forward to using CharityTracker case management software.
