The Department of Social Work, Psychology and Counseling hosted nearly 200 social workers who convened in Arthur J. Bond Hall auditorium on the AAMU campus for a highly anticipated Social Work Examination Licensure Examination Preparation Workshop.
The two-day workshop, which was facilitated by nationally recognized trainer Dr. Sophia Dziegielewski, was a strategic collaboration between the AAMU Department of Social Work, Psychology and Counseling and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW)-Alabama Chapter.
Title IV-E Child Welfare funds provided by a sub-award secured by the Department via the Alabama Consortium of Social Work Programs allowed 53 alumni and graduating MSW students, whose names were pulled in a drawing, to attend the workshop free of charge.
The training attracted participants from throughout the region including Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi and Arkansas. Ultimately, this annual collaborative training opportunity will support AAMU alumni and other MSW Program graduates in achieving licensure, which is the minimal requirement for securing employment as a social worker in the State of Alabama.
