MEET THE CANDIDATE – AMY WASYLUKA CANDIDATE, STATE SENATE DISTRICT 2

PAID FOR BY: The Committee to Elect Amy Wasyluka for Senate, P.O. Box 424 Capshaw AL 35742

State Senate District 2 candidate, Amy Wasyluka

Amy Wasyluka is running for State Senate District 2 in the Democratic Primary on June 5, 2018. Amy is a local appellate attorney, mother, and childhood cancer survivor. Amy’s campaign focuses on Healthcare, Education, and Infrastructure.

Amy is married to Tim Wasyluka, who is a member of the Alabama Army National Guard and also serves as a civilian contract attorney for the U.S. Army. Amy is a lifelong Methodist and she and her family currently attends Ford’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The Wasylukas moved to Madison in 2011 where they reside with their 3 year old daughter and two dogs.

Amy was born in Troy, Alabama and adopted at 6 months old. Her parents served as educators in Alabama for over 20 years. When Amy was 17, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Amy attended Auburn University where she majored in Political Science and developed a lifelong desire to serve her community. She went on to study law at the University Of Alabama School Of Law and earned her law degree in 2009.

Since law school, Amy has worked in a variety of legal areas including family law, bankruptcy, civil litigation, and appeals. Through the practice of law, Amy learned how to analyze legislation and how to work with parties on all sides of an issue.

Too often we see elected representatives who fail to consider the impact their actions have on their communities and who view politics not as a way to serve but as a team sport where political points matter more than the needs of their constituents. Amy believes Alabama deserves politicians who are willing to use commonsense to confront the realities and challenges before us. As your next state senator, Amy’s background as an attorney, a childhood cancer survivor, and a mother will enable her to advocate for the needs of District 2 with common sense and compassion.

Amy supports expanding Medicaid, bringing a lottery to Alabama to help with the rising costs of upper education, investing in our public school systems and public school teachers, and supporting local infrastructure and businesses to grow opportunity for our area.
