OTIS THREATT, SR. SWORN IN AS THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT OF THE MADISON CO. EDUCATION RETIREES ASSOCIATION

(LEFT TO RIGHT) Otis Threatt, Sr. – MCERA President, Teresa Noell – AERA President, Martha Tucker – First Vice President, Janie Hardt – Second Vice President, Mary Lou Long – Secretary And Treasurer, Mildred HagaOn Thursday, April 26, 2018, Otis Threatt, Sr. was sworn in as the first African American male President of the Madison County Education Retirees Association (MCERA) by the Alabama Education Retirees Association (AERA) President Teresa Noell.

A short program took place before Threatt and other officers were installed.

Noell was the featured speaker and several musical selections were provided by the Blue Notes of the Huntsville Police Department (HPD).

Membership in the Alabama Education Retirees Association, Inc. (AERA), is open to anyone who receives retirement benefits from the Teachers’ Retirement System of Alabama. Currently, AERA has over 25,000 members.
