HUNTSVILLE — The Delta Theta Lambda Education Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Delta Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., recently awarded nearly $40,000 in scholarships to 32 outstanding students from schools across Madison County.

The scholarships were presented during the foundation’s 2026 Annual Scholarship Awards Presentation, recognizing students for their academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to higher education.

Funding for the scholarships was raised through the foundation’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast, one of North Alabama’s premier events supporting educational opportunities for local students.

The foundation received significant support from corporate sponsors including Huntsville Utilities, Meta Platforms, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, and the Dr. R. Parker Griffith Family Foundation. Additional major donors included Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama and Bank Independent.

Corporate contributors included AT&T, State Representatives Laura Hall and Anthony Daniels, Google Fiber, Huntsville Hospital Health System, Lexus of Huntsville, PNC Bank, Project XYZ, Raytheon, an RTX Business, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Regions Bank, Sarai Space Group, and Woody Anderson Ford.

Additional support was provided by State Representative Marilyn Lands, Bryant Bank, Goodwyn Mills Cawood, the Huntsville Committee of 100, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, and retired Madison County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon.

Among this year’s recipients was Emmanual J. Armstrong, a graduate of Sparkman High School and recipient of the Dr. John W. Hall Memorial Scholarship.

“As a student preparing to attend Alabama A&M University in the fall to major in Biology, receiving this scholarship will help greatly support my educational journey on the Hill,” Armstrong said.

The Delta Theta Lambda Education Foundation is currently led by Chairman Gary T. Whitley Jr., who continues the organization’s mission of investing in the educational success of students throughout the Huntsville and Madison County community.
