Culture Comes Alive: Huntsville Museum of Art Hosts Free “Impressions of Asia” Celebration

SPEAKIN’ OUT NEWS

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A vibrant celebration of culture, creativity, and community is set to take center stage as the Huntsville Museum of Art opens its doors for a free, day-long experience honoring Asian heritage.

The “Impressions of Asia” Culture Fair, happening Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., invites families, students, and visitors of all ages to explore the beauty and diversity of Asian cultures through art, music, and hands-on activities.

Inspired by the blooming cherry blossoms in nearby Big Spring Park, the event blends seasonal beauty with cultural expression—offering guests an immersive journey through tradition and creativity.

Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy live performances by Korean drummers and dancers, along with demonstrations in printmaking, calligraphy, and traditional flower arranging. Interactive experiences will allow visitors to try origami, create Vietnamese paper dolls, and explore Chinese character printmaking.

A special “cultural passport” activity encourages guests to explore the museum, while an interactive map invites the community to share their own cultural roots—highlighting Huntsville’s growing diversity.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to experience the beauty and diversity of Asian cultures in an engaging and accessible way,” said Education Associate Audrey Creel. “There is something for everyone to enjoy and learn from throughout the day.”

Organizers say the event also reflects Huntsville’s expanding Asian and Asian American community, with local artists, cultural groups, and students helping bring the experience to life.

With free admission, food trucks, and a full day of programming, the Culture Fair offers more than entertainment—it offers connection.

Because when communities come together through culture, everyone leaves inspired.
