The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Chapter 1067 in Huntsville, Alabama, commemorated the 14th Annual National Vietnam War Veterans Day with a meaningful observance held on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is officially recognized across the United States on March 29 each year, honoring the men and women who served in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. The date marks a significant moment in history—March 29, 1973—when the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam was disbanded and the last U.S. combat troops departed the Republic of Vietnam.

Chapter 1067 hosted its ceremony at the Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial, located at 200 Monroe Street, where veterans, families, and community members gathered to reflect on service, sacrifice, and legacy.

The keynote speaker for the observance was Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4), retired, John Nolan. Nolan shared reflections on his time serving in Vietnam as an Intelligence Officer involved in the Phoenix Program, offering insight into both the challenges and responsibilities faced during the war.

Veterans John Perry and Tom Kennemer served as Masters of Ceremonies, guiding attendees through the program. The Presentation of the Colors was performed by the Grissom High School JROTC, adding a ceremonial and patriotic element to the event.

Musical selections were provided by the Rocket City Chorus, under the direction of Norman Myers, contributing to the reflective tone of the gathering.

During the program, Lee Parker, president of Chapter 1067, along with John Perry, presented plaques of appreciation to six members of the chapter in recognition of their service and dedication.

Membership in the Vietnam Veterans of America is open to all veterans who served in any branch of the military between 1955 and 1975. For more information about Chapter 1067, interested individuals can contact the organization at 1067vva@gmail.com.
