Tragedy on the Road: Two Students Killed,Community Calls for Prayer After School Bus Crash

SPEAKIN’ OUT NEWS

Community members gather in prayer for the students, families, and school affected by the devastating loss.

A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken families and communities across the South after two middle
school students were killed and several others injured in a devastating school bus crash during a
field trip in Tennessee.
The bus, carrying students and staff from Kenwood Middle School in Montgomery County, was
headed to a STEM event when it collided with a dump truck and another vehicle in Carroll
County. At the time of the crash, 25 students and five adults were on board.
Authorities confirmed that two students died at the scene, while multiple others were
injured—some airlifted to trauma centers in Nashville and Memphis. Hospital officials later
reported that patients treated were stabilized and released.
One report suggests the bus may have “failed to navigate a curve” before the collision, though
officials stress the crash remains complex and is still being pieced together. Investigators are
examining driver actions, road conditions, and how each vehicle interacted in the moments
leading up to the crash.
Authorities say the crash remains under investigation, with state and federal officials reviewing
driver performance, response time, and safety procedures. No fault has been determined.
The loss has left families grieving and communities searching for answers.
Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden expressed the heartbreak felt across the region, saying,
“This is a bad day in Montgomery County… Prayer is absolutely needed right now.”
The students were participating in a STEM-related trip—an opportunity meant to inspire young
minds and expand their futures.
As families mourn, support continues to pour in, with calls for prayer, unity, and healing.
Because in moments like this, community matters most.
