presence in gospel and R&B music.
The Huntsville Music Office is celebrating two North Alabama music standouts who have earned national recognition with nominations for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, highlighting the region’s growing influence in gospel and R&B music.
Huntsville-area artist Adia Andrews and Grammy-winning producer Kelvin Wooten both received nominations this year, marking a major milestone for local talent on one of music’s biggest stages.
Andrews, a Sparkman High School alum known professionally as ADIA, earned her first Grammy nomination in the Best Gospel Performance/Song category. She is nominated for her songwriting contribution to “Amen,” performed by Birmingham-born contemporary gospel artist Pastor Mike Jr.
The song is among this year’s nominees in a category that recognizes excellence in both traditional and contemporary gospel music, honoring artists and songwriters whose work reflects musical and spiritual impact.
Also receiving Grammy recognition is Kelvin Wooten, a North Alabama-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer whose work appears on two albums nominated for Best R&B Album. Wooten contributed to “Why Not More?” by Coco Jones and “Escape Room” by Teyana Taylor, both of which are competing in the category.
Wooten is no stranger to the Grammy stage. He has built a respected career working behind the scenes with major artists across R&B, soul, and pop music, collaborating with legends such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Mary J. Blige, and numerous other industry heavyweights.
The dual nominations underscore Huntsville’s expanding footprint in the national music scene, particularly within gospel and R&B genres.
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards were held on Sunday, Feb. 1, with the pre-show ceremony beginning at 2:30 p.m. CT.
