BESSEMER — Three people are behind bars and facing capital murder charges after authorities say they brutally beat and robbed a Bessemer man in an attack so violent that investigators believe the suspects punched, kicked, stomped, and struck him with a gun.

Court records made public Monday identify the suspects as 41-year-old Jimmy Lee Wells, 31-year-old Antwaniqua Vannae Smith, and 37-year-old Ronald Ray Ross Jr. All three are charged with capital murder in the killing of Jarrett Kevar Parker.

Charging documents paint a disturbing picture of the assault. Investigators allege the trio was attempting to rob Parker of his clothing when the encounter escalated into a deadly beating. The suspects are accused of repeatedly attacking Parker with their fists and feet before striking him with a firearm.

The assault happened midday on Nov. 26, though it remains unclear when or where Parker ultimately died. Bessemer police have not yet provided additional information, and repeated attempts to reach the department for comment have been unsuccessful.

The Jefferson County Jail log shows all three suspects were booked on Saturday. Each remains held without bond, a standard condition for capital murder charges in Alabama.

Parker’s killing adds to mounting concerns about violent crime in western Jefferson County, where community members continue calling for more resources, intervention programs and transparency from local law enforcement.

As the investigation moves forward, officials have not released a possible motive beyond the alleged robbery, and no further details about the events leading up to the deadly encounter have been made public.
