MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. — An 8-year-old child has died following an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident that occurred Sunday on Rescue Road in Union Grove, according to the Marshall County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities said the accident happened on private property and involved only a single ATV. The child was reportedly thrown from the vehicle during the crash and suffered critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, the child later died from those injuries.
The Coroner’s Office confirmed the death but has not yet released the child’s name, pending notification of family members. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) are investigating the cause of the accident.
Officials said no other individuals were injured. Preliminary reports indicate that the crash occurred in a residential area where off-road vehicles are commonly used.
This tragic incident highlights the risks associated with ATV use, particularly among children. Safety experts continue to urge riders and parents to take precautions, including using helmets and protective gear, operating only age-appropriate vehicles, and ensuring adult supervision at all times.
No additional information about the cause of the crash or whether safety equipment was in use has been released.
The Marshall County Coroner’s Office and local law enforcement are expected to provide further updates as the investigation continues.
