One Woman’s Opinion

Columnist, Jackie Reed

Thanks, Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers.  Hope everyone is well and thankful if they have not been touched by the virus. Never have I seen anything like this and I am sure our parents that have passed would not believe this either.  I pray someday someone will find out who caused this.

Thanks to Governor Kay Ivey and the health officials for extending the requirement of wearing face mask through November 8th, under the new health order.  The five-week extension will be in effect on election day and through much of the remaining high school and college football seasons. Ending the face mask ordinance could harm the state by leading people to a false sense of security.

JUDGE BACKS CURBSIDE VOTING

A federal judge ruled Wednesday that Alabama can not block counties from offering curbside voting. Secretary of State John Merrill and Attorney General Steve Marshall said they would appeal the decision.  U.S. District Judge Abdul K. Kallon, issued a ruling for the people and organizations who sued Merrill and some county officials on curbside voting.  Absentee ballots must be signed by a notary or two witnesses, and voters must provide a photo ID with their absentee ballot applications.

PRESIDENT TRUMP

My prayers go out to President Trump, his family and others who have the virus. Very sad to hear all of this but I believe that Trump is one of GOD’S children and will pull thru quick.  He is, as my children call me, “A tough ole Bird”.  We need him back as President because I am very concerned about Biden.  I do not believe Biden could handle making the tough decisions that face this country and the people.  I have a lot of FAITH and will continue to pray for President Trump’s quick recovery.

 LINCOLN MILL MAKE OVER

Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate plans to upgrade Lincoln Mill with retail and restaurants. They say Lincoln Mill is an exciting undertaking because of its history. Work began on redevelopment in May and is expected to be complete in 2021.

Crunkleton was also the real estate agent for the Martin Stove property. Who owns the Martin Stove property now? Who is developing the property from Martin Stove to 14th Street, which is being called Bridge street? I would truly like to know.

LEADERS OF HUNTSVILLE

Leaders, please wake up and have some common sense. In my opinion you all have made a mess developing Huntsville.  Traffic, degraded streets, speeders and empty buildings are everywhere and all you do is build new projects to help big developers. It makes me sad when I look at downtown and all the high-top buildings and hotels being built.

Love you all and have a blessed week.
