A Montgomery police officer is under arrest on a felony sex crime.
Markelle Cox, 27, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, the department announced on Saturday.
Details of the charges against the officer have not yet been made public. Authorities have not said when Cox was arrested or by which law enforcement agency.
Montgomery police Sgt. Tina McGriff said the department has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Cox. He was placed on administrative leave this morning.
