Thanks to Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. The Smothers have such a beautiful family with their sons and daughters.
We have had some beautiful weather lately. Please enjoy it and be thankful. So much is happening every day in our lives you wonder what tomorrow will bring. The gas shortage was a big surprise and thank God it did not last very long until all was back in business.
SCHOOLS OUT
Most schools are out for the summer and I hope the students have a happy summer. I pray that everything gets back to normal soon. The COVID-19 was an unexpected tragedy and yet the U.S. cannot figure where it came from. Please continue to wear mask inside public spaces. There are still many Alabamians that have not been vaccinated and some public places are still requiring masks. Be careful and take care of self and family.
VERDICT ON POLICE OFFICER
Mayor Battle disagreed with the verdict in the Officer Darby’s case. Alabama Democratic Party Executive Director Wade Perry called for the firings of Huntsville Police Chief Mark McMurray and Officer William Darby after Darby was put on Administrative leave. The City Council has asked for money to help in Darby’s criminal defense. Many issues are coming up that would make me not want to be on a jury anymore.
UNEMPLOYMENT PAY OVER
The State will end its participation in all federally funded unemployment programs on June 19. Gov. Kay Ivey announced Monday the program included Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation which provides for an additional $300 weekly payment to the state’s maximum weekly benefit amount of $225.00. I hope some of the people will be ready to go back to work as there are plenty of jobs on the market.
MARIJUANA BILL
Rep. Mike Ball, R. Madison tended the Medical Marijuana bill in the house. Gov. Ivey could sign into law a bill legalizing and regulating medical marijuana. If the law passes doctors would be able to recommend patients receive a medical marijuana card enabling them to get marijuana for treatments. Growers and distributors would be regulated under a new Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission. The Legislatures and our leaders everywhere are what is causing so many problems in this country.
VON BRAUN LAST SURVIVOR
Dorothea Schlidt, the last surviving member of the Werner Von Braun German Rocket team has died in Huntsville at the age of 100. She and her husband moved here after being in Germany from 1960-1980 and both remained here until their death. They loved America and Huntsville very much.
Please everyone, have HOPE, FAITH and LOVE as that is what life is all about.
Love you all and have a blessed week.
