Commissioner Violet Edwards will honor Anna Grace Tucker, Miss Troy University 2026, and Jazmine McKenzie, a national Voice finalist, for their leadership and positive impact in Madison County during Black History Month.

The Madison County Commission will shine a special light on two young women making powerful impacts across North Alabama during its February 11 meeting, honoring them as part of Black History Month observances.

District 6 Commissioner Violet Edwards will recognize Anna Grace Tucker and Jazmine McKenzie with formal resolutions celebrating their achievements, leadership, and continued service to the Madison County community.

Tucker, a Huntsville native, is a junior at Troy University, where she serves as a member of the university’s dance line and the M.I.S.S. Elite Organization, which focuses on empowering women through mentorship, service, and personal development. Recently crowned Miss Troy University 2026, Tucker is using her platform to raise awareness through her initiative, “Say It Out Loud,” which highlights the importance of addressing speech sound disorders and supporting those affected.

McKenzie, a Huntsville-based touring artist originally from Birmingham, has also become a source of pride for the region. She gained national recognition as a Season 28 finalist on NBC’s “The Voice.” McKenzie began singing in her home church and continued developing her talent through performances across Alabama, including during her time as a student at Alabama A&M University. Today, she pursues a growing music career rooted in excellence, mentorship, and inspiring the next generation of young artists.

“These two ladies act as an inspiration to us all,” Edwards said. “During Black History Month, we especially want to spotlight their accolades and show the community how they both lead by example and make our community proud.”

The Madison County Commission meeting is open to the public, and residents are invited to attend on February 11 as Tucker and McKenzie are honored for representing the best of Huntsville’s emerging leaders.
