Alabama A&M University continues to make its mark on the global basketball stage, with 14 former Bulldogs currently competing in professional leagues worldwide.
One of the program’s veteran standouts, Obie Trotter, a 2006 AAMU graduate and former SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, is playing professionally in Iceland. Trotter helped Hottur Egilsstadir secure a dominant 108–80 victory over Fylkir last week, finishing with eight points, five assists, and three steals. This season, he is averaging 10.2 points, 4.7 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.
Jeremy Ingram, a 2013 graduate, continues his professional career in Croatia. Despite Amphora’s loss to Mladost ZG, Ingram contributed four points in limited minutes. He is averaging 16.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists this season.
Former All-SWAC Second Team selection Nick West is thriving in Bahrain. Although Al-Muharraq fell in a close matchup against Al Ittihad, West delivered an outstanding performance with 28 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals, recording a double-double. He is averaging 25.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.
Xavier Brewer, a 2023 AAMU graduate now playing in Malta, posted a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to Hibernians. Brewer is averaging an impressive 30.0 points and 14.0 rebounds this season.
Several other former Bulldogs are competing professionally across Europe and the Americas, including William Tavares in Colombia, Jaylen Colon in Great Britain, Garrett Hicks in Germany, Olisa Akonobi in Mexico, and Andre Kennedy in the United States.
Alabama A&M University remains Huntsville’s only Division I athletics program, continuing to develop talent that reaches the professional level worldwide.
