Scriptural text: PSALM 13; 7-13 2 TIMOTHY 3: 14-17
KEY VERSE: All scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3: 16-17, KJV).
INTRODUCTION: The main focus of Psalm 19 does not easily suggest its specific geographical or cultural setting. The writer expresses awe and wonder at God’s glory and His creation. The Psalm describes how God has revealed Himself through the heavens—worlds upon worlds—and through the Scriptures, which are infallible words. God has revealed Himself in His works and His words. He is the God of creation and the God of revelation. Anyone interested in knowing more about God can simply observe the magnificent works of His hands. Creation bears witness to the Creator. The world testifies to God’s presence. The creation displays the splendor of its Creator. 2 Timothy 3, from the relationship shared between the Apostle Paul and Timothy.
The significance of the Scripture (Psalm 19: 7-9).
The opening verses of this Psalm set the stage for what follows. David acknowledges the role of creation to confirm and celebrate it. David said that the heavenly objects are bragging about their Creator. These heavenly bodies declare the glory of God and, for David, prove God’s reality (verse 1). In fact, Genesis 1;1 declares merely spoke the heavenly objects into existence. Likewise, the psalmist calls attention to the moon, sun, and the stars; they are like timeless signs and billboards to those with discerning senses. They have no speech; they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their voice to the ends of the world (verses 3-4, NIV). It takes a telescope to see beyond the limitations of the naked eye. Millions of galaxies exist in the universe. This earthly planet belongs to the Milky Way galaxy. But no matter how many galaxies exist, all owe their reality to God.
The Bible is the best guide for navigating life circumstances and a road map for living. The Word cannot benefit those who dismiss and ignore it. With all its Hope,
Guidance and revelation, the Bible can only bless those who receive and revere it as true and righteous. For those who regard God’s Word, it is the final arbitrator of justice and truth.
The Sweetness of the Word (Psalm 19:10).
Reading and meditating on the Bible has an incredibly satisfying effect on one’s life. The Word can be both sweet and bitter.
The Stimulus from the Word. (Psalm 19 : 11-13). The Word reminds the saint and sinner of the blessing that comes from obedience.
