Huntsville, AL – For several days Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson sat through blatant racist attempts, by Republicans, to discredit her qualifications for becoming a Supreme Court Justice who verbally abused and disrespected her. Thank you KBJ for being the perfect example of another person of color to provide proof as to why racist white men never wanted the slaves to be taught how to read. They knew that if the slaves got this knowledge, something like this would happen. It took 230 years! KBJ, you kept trusting, believing, and reading to get to where you are today.
Thank you KBJ for showing restraint when the clowns in that circus jumped out of their small clown car and started performing for their audience. When Marsha Blackburn, a Republican Senator for Tennessee, and the only GOP woman on the panel, ask Judge Jackson to give a definition of a woman, that was an attempt to show how Republicans can make a case of how they are protecting women. Yet, in her own State they are trying to pass legislation to not have an age limit for people to get married. Just image a fifty year old man wanting to marry your fifteen year old daughter. How is that protecting women? In my mind that man would be a pedophile. Marsha Blackburn doesn’t know the answer to her own question about a woman.
Thank you to the Republicans who voted for KBJ because they knew it was the right thing to do. All the other Republicans were in lock step and voted “no” which was not a surprise. There was no surprise either from the people questioning her qualifications. Racist White Men who knew she could run rings around them and could not stand the thought that a Black Female would be sitting on the Highest Court in America.
I’m going to assume the each state had someone to come before the panel and say why they disagreed with the nomination. In the State of Alabama you had Richard Shelby (who is retiring), Robert Aderholt, and State Attorney General Steve Marshall, who all at some point received Law Degrees. Then you have Senator Tommy Tuberville who says that he didn’t agree with her nomination because she was not qualified. This comes from a man who has done nothing but Coach Football. The only reason he is a Senator is because the white folks in Alabama did not like Doug Jones, and the black folks did not turn out to vote in the Mid-Term Elections to keep Jones in the Senate.
Thank you KBJ for being an example to all the young ladies of color and what a real woman looks like when faced with lies and accusations. As former President Barak Obama said “when they go low, you go high.” Keep Trusting and Believing!
