Huntsville, AL – The Grand Old Party in the State of Georgia started early by once again trying to suppress the votes of people of color in order to try and win majors election in 2022. It is widely expected that Stacey Abrams will run again for Governor. Revenge is a primitive, destructive, and violent response to anger, injury, or humiliation. It is a misguided attempt to transform shame into pride. The GOP is so angry they are trying everything to overturn legitimate elections. They tried in 2020. They are so blinded with hate and revenge they are willing to sacrifice their own party members who used the same process. Remember these are the same people who wrote the laws on absentee voting that worked so well for them in the past. It’s only because people of color followed the rules and voted in record numbers that this tactic is being used.
When I read this “Election Integrity Act of 2021 and all the obvious racist language, I had to ask myself why it would be a crime to give voters in line food and water? Are they saying that white people who are willing to stand in line for hours don’t want these items neither? What does this have to do with integrity? What the State of Georgia and other GOP-led legislatures across the country are saying is that only people of color cheat when it comes to elections. Watch the GOP in “your” State Offices when they introduce legislature with word like “voting integrity” “voting rights” “voting anything” stay on top of it.
At one time it was being said that the GOP had no plans going forward. They’ve always had a plan and have been using the same playbook since 1877, The Jim Crow Laws. They are trying to disguise it with updated words. This is nothing new to people of color who have endured alot. So this “in your face” tactic is not going to work. We are very resilient and know how to adjust when the rules are changed in the middle of a game.
