The History of Taylor’s Chapel goes back to the ending of the late nineteenth century and the beginning of the early twentieth century. It is a history that affirms the dreams of the late Reverend William “Will” Taylor; Reverend Taylor founded the church in February, 1904.

On Sunday, February 16, 2020, the church family celebrated the 116th Church Anniversary at the 10:00 am Morning Worship Services with Pastor Ritzel King of Morning Star M. B. Church, Stevenson, Alabama as the Guest Speaker and at the 1:30 pm Afternoon Worship Services with Moderator Dr. Mylon Burwell and the Mt. Zion MB Church of Huntsville, Alabama as guests. A Celebration Luncheon was served with Sister Jacqueline Kelly Matthews as Chairperson. Sisters Andi Walker and Patricia Lane Bullard were in charge of church decorations and displays.

White Candles glowed in the Sanctuary and throughout the church edifice during the day long celebration. A picturesque display of the four pastors, a display of The Founder with a Sketch of The Founder by Jason Langford, and a flyer compiled by current Pastor Elder James Lane were all a part of the festivities.

Founded during Black History Month, a site of the Number 4 Hall Cemetery, the site of a former Masonic Lodge Hall and the former Number 4 Hall School (a feeder school to Council Training School at Normal) this Christian Church will continue to “Keep Moving” just as Moderator Dr. Burwell challenged the Taylor’s Chapel Pastor and Family during his powerful anniversary message.
