AAMU Information Technology Services (ITS) wants everyone to be aware of the work underway to provide adequate Internet bandwidth.
Expect minor inconveniences like sidewalk closings, redirected traffic and drilling Buchanan Way traffic will be impacted Feb. 7 – 10 as crews open the road to install fiber optic cables that will connect to all buildings on campus.
The installation of underground fiber optic cables is Phase 1 of an ongoing project to ensure that each building on campus has the necessary Internet bandwidth to support academic and administrative expectations.
Phase 2 includes the upgrade of the wireless infrastructure in each building. ITS will complete Phase 2 in three steps:
- Residential Halls.
- Academic Buildings
- Administrative Buildings.
ITS plans to complete Phase 1 this semester and hopes to have upgraded wireless infrastructure in residence halls by this summer.
