HUNTSVILLE, AL – – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter Celebrates Annual MLK Day of Service. Under the direction of the sorority’s new International President, Dr. Glenda Glover, all chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority were asked to plan and execute signature MLK Day of service projects.
On Monday, January 21, 2019, over 114 volunteers, composed of chapter members of Epsilon Gamma Omega, Gamma Mu, Omicron Zeta, and friends/family members of Epsilon Gamma Omega, joined forces to celebrate and, most importantly, honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This Community Impact Day, led by Soror Liz Clemons, Target III chairman, answered Dr. King’s call, “What are you doing for others?”
We served as greeters and prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner food trays to 170 Huntsville, Alabama community homeless men, women, and children at the Downtown Rescue Mission (DRM). Additionally, Members of Epsilon Gamma Omega were asked to donate pampers and baby wipes to the residents at the Downtown Rescue Mission. The members answered the call by donating over 2,281 pampers and 10,102 baby wipes to the women in the shelter. President of Epsilon Gamma Omega is Dr. Cheryl R. Davis and the Vice President and Program Chairman is Dr. Rhonda Thompson.
