From the Knee: Reading Tips to Grandparents for Grands

By Dione Jordan-Hamilton, PhD

Need a variety of books for the Grands to read over the summer? I have the perfect place, the Huntsville Madison County Public Library! There are many summer reading programs for a variety of ages. The first step to utilizing these resources is to obtain a free library card. There is a registration form online that can be filled out and returned to the library, however; you must show proof of residence at any Huntsville Madison County Public Library location. Open Lab classes for adults assist with the use of email, tablets (iPads, Kindle’s etc.), Microsoft Office and other computer issues. The library even has a Medicare education class which only requires registration. These resources are free as well. Friends of the Library sponsor a recurring $0.25 book sale. You can browse thousands of titles in both fiction and nonfiction. Check out the website and calendar for a complete listing of scheduled events (https://hmcpl.org//).
